Recognition & Legacy

From the family archive to the nation

Barrier-breaking exhibitions

Tladi established a national reputation through exhibitions in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Grahamstown.

Moses Tladi Unearthed

Iziko South African National Gallery mounted the first major retrospective, later travelling to Grahamstown and Johannesburg.

“The shy gardener who became SA's black Pierneef”

The Sunday Times published Tymon Smith's account of the artist and the Unearthed retrospective — coverage preserved in the family press archive.

Mont-Aux-Sources on a national stamp

The South African Post Office included Mont-Aux-Sources in the Iziko South African Museum bicentenary stamp series, issued 12 November 2025.

The blue plaque at Lokshoek

Johannesburg's blue plaque marks 6 Anerley Road, Parktown. The family is seeking correction of the inscription's 1903 birth date.
